Javier Stober

Research Associate

Center of Excellence for Aeronautics and Astronautics

Javier is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford. His dissertation investigates novel ignition schemes in hybrid and liquid rockets. His research efforts primarily focus on the experimental characterization of green, self-igniting rocket propellants to replace hydrazine and nitrogen tetroxide for in-space propulsion applications. This research will lead to safer and cheaper propellant candidates, thereby reducing risks associated with propellant loading and fabrication and easing access to space. In addition to research, Javier is also a passionate teacher and mentor, and has served over 200 graduate and undergraduate students in those roles.
