Yaser Alahmadi

Co-director

Center of Excellence for Aeronautics and Astronautics

Dr. Alahmadi is currently the Co-Director for the Joint Center of Excellence in Aeronautics and Astronautics, a High-Technology collaborative research program between KACST and Stanford University. He obtained his BSc in Aerospace Engineering back in 2007 from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), in Dhahran Saudi Arabia. In 2008, he joined the National Aeronautics Technology Center (NAC) at KACST as an Aerospace Engineer. He received his MSc. and PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Sheffield, in Sheffield United Kingdom, in 2010 and 2015, respectively. During his PhD tenure, his research interests were in the general area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), turbulence modeling, finite volume method, aerodynamics and numerical methods. In addition, he successfully supervised two MSc students at the Sheffield Fluid Mechanics Group (SFMG) and assisted in supervising one PhD student as well. In 2016, he was appointed manager of the design team with the NAC. More recently, Dr. Alahmadi has worked on the modification of the shear stress transport model to account for the effects of the streamline curvature and system rotation. The results of the modified model have been published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at the International Conference on Multiphase Flow (ICMF).
